Rabbit Anti-TWEAK/FITC Conjugated antibody
background:
Proteins belonging to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) superfamily are potent mediators of inflammation and of the immune system. Members of the TNF superfamily include TNFβ, lymphotoxin β (LTb), CD154 (CD40L), CD30L, CD27L, OX40L, 4-1BBL, FAS-L (APO-1) and TRAIL. Most TNF family members are type II transmembrane proteins that are proteolytically processed at their carboxy terminal extracellular domain to form a soluble homotrimeric molecule. TWEAK (also designated Apo-3L) has been identified as a secreted ligand belonging to the TNF superfamily. TWEAK seems to induce apoptosis weakly, and it may be involved in cell differentiation in vivo.
Function:
Binds to FN14 and possibly also to TNRFSF12/APO3. Weak inducer of apoptosis in some cell types. Mediates NF-kappa-B activation. Promotes angiogenesis and the proliferation of endothelial cells. Also involved in induction of inflammatory cytokines.
Subunit:
Homotrimer (Probable). Interacts with the angiogenic factor AGGF1/VG5Q.
Subcellular Location:
Secreted and Cell membrane.
Tissue Specificity:
Highly expressed in adult heart, pancreas, skeletal muscle, brain, colon, small intestine, lung, ovary, prostate, spleen, lymph node, appendix and peripheral blood lymphocytes. Low expression in kidney, testis, liver, placenta, thymus and bone marrow. Also detected in fetal kidney, liver, lung and brain.
Post-translational modifications:
The soluble form derives from the membrane form by proteolytic processing.
Similarity:
Belongs to the tumor necrosis factor family.
